Photos or art-work are printed directly onto real high quality canvas (Canson XP 340 gsm) which has had a special ink-jet receptive coating applied to one side of the canvas. I use Epson K3 pigment ink.
After printing onto canvas I apply a tough glossy varnish which further enhances and protects your photo on the canvas.
Stretching the canvas print is the next stage. This involves fixing the canvas print around a wooden frame. The canvas print is pulled tight and fixed at the back, no part of the frame is visible when the canvas print is hung on a wall. Wedges are tapped into special slots in each corner, these allow the canvas print to be re-tensioned at any time.
There are two depths of canvas print frame to choose from: standard 20mm or chunky 44mm. The chunky one looks particularly good on larger canvas prints, the extra bulk gives them more presence when displayed but cost about 20% more. Canvas prints larger than 30" (76cm) have an additional brace bar in the centre to prevent warping.
I can work from photos, negatives, slides and digital photo files (TIFF, JPEG, RAW etc) supplied on disc, memory stick or camera card. As a general principle it is always best to work with the original digital photo file if possible....... but if a photo is all that is available, bring it along and I will advise you regarding the final print quality.

Canvas is much tougher than paper, this enables it to be stretched around an adjustable wooden canvas print frame and displayed relatively quickly and easily. In the larger sizes the cost savings over paper photo printing and subsequent framing are considerable. There is no difference in print quality between the two processes. Canvas prints can and should look stunning!
To be honest, no one really knows. Hung indoors out of direct sunlight, 75 years should be a reasonable estimate. I use Epson K3 pigment inks, high quality 340 gsm canvas and a coat of varnish to finish it off. For more information on this controversial topic visit www.wilhelm-research.com
I can do just about any photo enhancement, repair, restoration you may require. Things like leveling the horizon, colour effects, sepia toning, removing marks or even people can all be done and usually free of charge. If you want something more ambitious I will give you a price for the work, based on £30.00 per hour computer time.
I know I am not the cheapest ! I do all the work in my gallery in Reading, I do not send it out to anonymous operators on the internet. I encourage you to bring in your files, prints, negatives etc and watch while I adjust & crop them, so they end up looking exactly the way you want them to look. I can even provide a small test print if you are worried about how your original will look when enlarged
